About
Lisa Bellamy is the author of the poetry collections Wonder Body (forthcoming 2027) and The Northway. Her chapbooks are Bee Frequency (forthcoming 2026) and Nectar. She teaches at The Writers Studio, and studied with Philip Schultz, the school's founder and director.
She has received two Pushcart Prizes, a Fugue Poetry Prize and a Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror Special Mention. Her work was selected for The Pushcart Book of Twenty-First Century Poetry and Prose, as well as for literary journals and podcasts. "It's Only the End of the World," a UN Network on Migration exhibition, featured her poetry. Currently, she is writing fables and researching American hermits and mystics for a poem cycle.
Bellamy graduated from Princeton, where she studied religion and anthropology. She is enrolled in Tergar International's meditation teaching program, under Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's direction, and hopes to bring mindful practices to writing classes and other groups. She has worked as a researcher for private and nonprofit organizations, most recently on the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church's staff, and now consults part-time to nonprofits. She and her spouse, photographer Peter Bellamy, and family live in New Jersey and the Adirondack High Peaks.
